Volunteers Invited to Read New Ag Lit Day Book
Florida agriculture industry volunteers are invited to read in elementary school classrooms a new book called “Green Florida Farms” for Florida Agriculture Literacy Day set for Tuesday March 23. The book educates students about the environmental contributions Florida farmers make to the state. Teachers who would like agriculture industry people in their areas to read in their classrooms should contact Florida Agriculture in the Classroom by calling (352) 846-1391 or emailing faitc@ifas.ufl.edu

agriscience teachers invited to apply for Volunteer Grants
The deadline to apply for Florida Agriculture
in the Classroom’s 2010 Volunteer Grants is Friday March
12. Farm Bureau members, University of Florida IFAS
Extension and 4-H agents, agriscience teachers and other
industry representatives are eligible. Grant funds should
be used to help educate students in pre-kindergarten
through 12th grade about the importance of Florida

Teachers, Volunteers Invited to ‘Serve Up Florida Agriculture Education'
Teachers in kindergarten through 12th grade and agriculture industry volunteers are invited to the 2010 State Teacher and Volunteer Workshop” June 17-19 at the TradeWinds Beach Resort on St. Pete Beach. For just $170 teachers and volunteers who share a hotel room with another workshop participant, will receive lessons and activities geared to classroom and field trip settings.

Online Teacher Workshop Available
Florida Agriculture in the Classroom offers a
new online workshop to teachers and others who would like
to educate Florida teachers and students about the
importance of the Florida agriculture industry. It’s packed
with great lessons from its core curricula “Project Food,
Land and People” and “Keeping Florida Green” and activities
from its other materials that can be used in
pre-kindergarten through 12th grade classrooms and other
settings involving people who wish to learn more about
Florida agriculture.
